Founded in October, 1995, PRIDE is an organization of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people of Puerto Rican descent/heritage. In 1996, we marched for the first time in the Puerto Rican Day Parade. In 1997, we marched for the first time in the Gay Pride Parade in Puerto Rico and led a successful campaign against oppressive HIV laws in Puerto Rico. In 1998, we sponsored events at the LGBT Community Center and collaborated with other LGBTST groups of color to best serve our constituents.

Every year during the Puerto Rican Heritage month, PRIDE celebrates and recognizes outstanding leadership in the Boricua, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Communities.

HISTORIA DE PRIDE (VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL)

La organización se fundó en el año 1995 por un grupo de activistas LGTB de origen puertorriqueño. En el año 1996 PRIDE marchó por primera vez en la Parada Puertorriqueña de Nueva York; y en el 1997 marchó por primera vez en la Parada de Orgullo Gay en Puerto Rico. Tambien trabajamos con grupos en Puerto Rico para derogar las leyes opresivas del VIH en Puerto Rico. En los últimos años seguimos celebrando el reconocimiento y los logros de la comunidad LGTB Boricua en nuestro evento anual, los premios PRIDE.
